Career Management SIG: Building your Training Portfolio

Portfolios aren't just for artists!

If you haven’t created a portfolio you are missing out on a great strategy for career development. If you want to advance in your current career or change career paths, creating a portfolio will help you figure out what steps you need to take to reach your goal. 

The benefits of creating a portfolio 

1. It encourages you to take an objective look at where you’ve been and to benchmark your career progress. 

2. It helps you to identify skills gaps so you can create a strong professional development plan to gain those needed skills. 

3. It helps you prepare for interviews, whether that be for a new job or a promotion. You’ll have a clear idea of your strengths and great examples of you accomplishments at the ready. 

During our September Career Management SIG meeting, we’ll discuss how to create a great portfolio. You’ll learn how to determine the content, arrangement and presentation of your professional portfolio. If you’ve already started one, bring it with you and the group will give you feedback.
