Has your mind ever wandered when an instructor was talking?

Trainers work hard to maintain the attention of their groups, and one of the ways they do it is by making their training sessions more of a conversation and less of a lecture.

How do you take instructional material and turn it into a conversation? Socrates knew the answer: use the Socratic method, and turn your content into a two-way conversation by asking a series of questions. As the group answers your questions, briefly respond to what they say, give another sentence or two of information, and then…ask another question.  Do it right, and participants stay engaged while they’re with you and retain more after they leave—and they have fun in the process.

Time flies when you’re in the middle of a stimulating conversation; time drags when you’re listening to a lecture. Come to this meeting of the Trainers’ SIG and:

  • Learn the steps for taking dry instructional material and turning it into a fun, fast-paced conversation
  • Practice taking information and turning it into a series of questions
  • Practice leading a portion of a training session using this technique
